Our Home Feature & Tour! [Budget Decorating]

dining room budget design

Today’s an exciting day for Picklee!  As you all know, the Picklee blog (and shop) were born from my belief that the most beautiful things are created from resources we already have.  This is the case with many of Picklee’s up-cycled projects like the Rustic Wood & Iron Table and so many of our trash to treasure revivals like the Queen Anne Keyhole Dresser and the Louis XV Chair Rehab.   This concept works not only toward building character in your home, it’s especially helpful when your working on a tight budget! I’ve always felt that the best spaces are created when you’re forced to be a little more creative, resourceful and think “outside the box”. That’s how you build character and create a home.

I guess we’re not the only one’s that value this concept =)  A New England publication, The Bay Magazine, recently discovered us and decided to come in a publish a feature on our home!  The photo shoot was a couple weeks back and the feature was just released!  I was on cloud nine throughout the whole process, it felt great to be acknowledged for being resourceful and “designing on a dime”!

UPDATE (9-1-2013): This was our very first home and we just purchased our new home!  Check it out here!

Here’s a photo I snapped of the photographer doing his thing…I’m not sure how much he enjoyed me sneaking up behind him and trailing his every move…but what can I say?  I was just so excited!

To read the article and see our little home tour follow this link!  Home Decorating on a Budget.

Here’s a few photos from their shoot…

Master bedroom with found drift wood “art” and DIY upholstered headboard

Guest bedroom with DIY bed made from an Ikea frame and recycled oak floor boards…

Above is a shot of our recently finished basement.  You might recognize the rustic wood sofa table and DIY curtain panel pillows 😉

Here is a corner shot of our living room and dining room, there’s a funky floral print chair I recently picked up and the outdated 80’s buffet I revived!

A cool shot from our dining room table, thats actually a wine barrel lazy susan, they cut the top right off the barrel!  There’s those painted wall stripes I wrote a tutorial on too!
