Since Brett and I have (finally!) tied the knot, we’ve had our hands full with renovating and decorating the new house. We are just one week away from completing our kitchen renovation (before & afters to come!), so now we are focusing on setting up our living space. Our style is very coastal, modern, casual farmhouse, and we want to set up a living room that’s comfortable, great for entertaining and coastal chic all at the same time.
I’ve been struggling with selecting the perfect sofa for weeks now, it’s such a big decision/commitment! When it comes to the perfect sofa for our living room I have three “MUSTS”: must have linen fabric, must have washable slipcover, must have “flanged” detail. What is “flanged” detail you ask? I only recently discovered this term after hours of relentless style research…”Flanged” slipcovers have visible seams that almost appear inside out; for me, this detail checks off my “chic” and “comfortable” box.

The Virginia Beach sofa is my favorite it’s not too stiff and perfect looking but also not too wrinkled. The chair and the Ikea sofas look like the slipcovers don’t fit.
Thanks Mel! I ended up going with the Josette sofa by Mitchell Gold, didn’t have the flange detail, but super comfy!!
