Reviving a Vintage Mirror the Easy Way + GIVEAWAY! [DIY]

paint giveaway

As most of you already know, I’m a big fan of neutral colors…as much as I LOVE TO PAINT, I usually gravitate toward whites and grays on all my pieces.  It’s tough breaking my habit on large pieces, so whenever I have a small piece of furniture or decor (like mirrors) I tend to be much more daring with colors.  Plus, small pieces and mirrors are perfect for adding that perfect pop of color in what would otherwise be a bland space.

We’re always getting really funky old pieces in at the shop, so when this vintage hand carved vintage wood mirror came in, I knew it was prime for a color makeover!

Sadly, I forgot to snap a “before” shot of the mirror (I guess I was really anxious to start painting!), but I found this image that closely resembles the way this mirror looked before its revival…

To revive this mirror, I chose Americana’s Sky Blue in their new multi-surface satin paint.  I absolutely love the silky shine this paint gives off!

Before painting, I gave the mirror a light sanding using a medium grit sand paper, just to be sure the paint would have enough surface to adhere to.  Then I gave the mirror two solid coats of the satin paint.  This paint has such a perfect shine, it didn’t even require a finish coat!

Now, for the reveal…

Once this baby made it’s way into the shop, it sold within a week!  Here it is lookin’ pretty in it’s new home =)

Our friends at Americana would love to see what you could revive/create with the new satin paint, so they’re offering Picklee reader’s a chance to win there own assortment of these fabulous paints!
