It never fails. At the end of every winter, I catch a bug…it’s an pesky, nagging bug…my mind starts swirling with hundreds of ways I should update my spaces. Whether it be a fresh coat of paint, new furniture, lighting etc., the Spring always seems to bring about some kind of change in my house. This year’s no different. My latest obsession is painting my stairs (which are currently covered in old, matted down carpet). The look of DIY painted stairs is just amazing, there are so many possibilities! I’ve put together a little collection of some of my favorite painted stairways. Be sure to stay tuned for a tutorial when I create my own painted stairs in the very near future! I will make this happen somehow…despite my fiances opposition 😉
After all this painted stairs inspiration you may just catch the bug too 😉

I’m really digging this trend right now, and I’m considering painting ours out too. I may add a decorative runner as well, but I’m on the fence (sometimes painted stairs are slippery and I’m a little afraid for our elderly dog and my accident prone husband!). Your blog is gorgeous by the way!
Love this look and will be doing something funky to our newly renovated stairs. We ripped out carpeting and put in cherry wood steps and the plain white risers are screaming “paint me pretty”.
crazy part is that this dawned on me this weekend, and by monday, i find your site! and didnt even know it was a “trend”…so glad i found you…once the stairs are prepped, anything is possible! thank you
